This is the site of an important Guanche burial ground that occupies an area of two kilometres in length and one kilometre in width, over a large expanse of basaltic rocks which resulted from a landslide of a nearby mountain. This burial site of the early Canary Islanders is made up of over a thousand burial mound structures
A waymarked path leads past tumuli to what is known as the King`s Tomb. This was carefully positioned to catch the sun`s rays. Bee hives were once kept here by local people and it was the tradition for the hive to be destroyed when the owner died. A black wreath was put on top of the destroyed hive.
For many reasons it is one of the itineraries that must not be missed on the routes of the Archaeological Heritage of Gran Canaria.
"Badlands" - The tumuli are scarcely perceptible, blending into the surroundings.
