Join the GGA at Red Top Mountain for a CITO event and earn a digital souvenir for CITO week in the process. We will be performing trail maintenance on a section of the Homestead Trail.
We will meet in the parking lot of the old lodge / park offices (50 Lodge Road Southeast, Cartersville, GA), at 1pm. Around 1:10pm, we will hike approximately 0.35 miles to the spot on the trail that is washed out and needs repair. A representative from the park will meet us and provide instruction. All tools and supplies will be provided, but it would be a good idea to bring work gloves. The GGA will also provide water. Depending on the number of people that participate, we hope to be finished by 3pm.
If you arrive after 1:10pm and still want to participate, follow these directions to the work site: From the parking lot, take the Sweet Gum Trail (red blazes), which has one hill. After a short walk you will join the Homestead Trail as it crosses Lodge Road. Turn right and head downhill. At the bottom of the hill the loop begins, and turning left will take you to the work site. See the additional waypoint for the GPS coordinates to the work site.
