Watch the latest Geocaching.com Presents video: CITO: Hamburg to Prague. See how geocachers from two countries unite to cleanup the environment. Dozens of geocachers from Germany and the Czech Republic attended the Hamburg to Prague CITO Event in June of 2011. They cleared trash from a Prague park, including tires, discarded cables, and bags full of litter.

CITO stands for Cache In Trash Out . It’s a Geocaching.com volunteer environmental effort repeated over and over again around the world by groups of geocachers each year. Since 2002, geocachers have been dedicated to improving parks and other cache-friendly location. These volunteer efforts help preserve the natural beauty of our outdoor resources. Geocaching.com Presents: “Geocaching Without GPS”

Ed Scott (edscott) admits, “I’m sort of obsessed with maps.”  The Pennsylvania, USA geocacher discovered more than 2,500 geocaches using only maps, aerial photos and his wits. Watch Geocaching.com Presents: “Geocaching Without GPS” to see how edscott geocaches without using a GPS device.

He says, “In the beginning I preferred to do it this way. Then after that it became, well, people expect me not to have a GPS. So that’s what I’ll keep on doing.”  The geocacher does use a GPS device occasionally, but says he’ll never use a GPS device 100% of the time.

The search for the cache leads adventurers deep into the woods of western Germany. Geocachers walk past the oldest healing water fountain still in existence in Germany, where cold water rushes down the mountain into a centuries-old shower. Finding the Walddusche cache isn’t difficult. What might be difficult is deciding whether or not to take a voluntary shower in the fountain. Watch the video to see if the geocachers on this caching trip took the plunge into its icy waters.

Watch the latest Geocaching.com Presents video, “Dosenfischer.” Dosenfischer is a German geocaching musical phenomenon. The band writes and performs geocaching-themed songs with unforgettable beats and hysterical lyrics. “Dosenfischer” literally means “can fishers.” The group consists of geocaching podcasters aba and sandmann with their very own muggle, Carsten Stotco, on guitar.

Dosenfischer released their first geocaching CD in November of 2010. Songs on the release cover topics such as micro caches, a geocaching groupie and the many nuances of the family hobby of geocaching. They’ve sold more than a thousand CDs and plan to release their second geocaching CD in the near future.

Dosenfischer recently performed in front of hundreds of geocachers at the German Mega-Event, FORTsetzung: – Die DOSENFISCHER.

The next Geocaching.com Presents video is scheduled to post on August 25th. Explore one of the most watched geocaches in all of Germany. Some hints about the geocache include: the cache involves water, the woods and a wall.
